Above is a link to the official video of 'Hot N Cold'. sorry that it is a link and not embedded as embedding is disabled on this video.

The main theme of this for Katy Perry telly her boyfriend what she thinks of him and them two getting married. The main characters/performers in this music video is Katy Perry who plays the bride and her boyfriend who is the one running away. The setting in this music video are a church, the street and a night club.

This music video is a performance based video which has a simple narrative. There are simple camerawork of long shots, mid shots, close ups and over the shoulder shots. These simple camera angles link in on the idea of having a simple narrative. The close ups are linked to Andrew Goodwin's theory of the record label having a lot of close ups of the artists. Also, linking to the simple narrative, the lighting mainly natural. To make it more realistic, the editing is straight cuts, which links into the simple narrative. The only special effect is the ending of the circle which is normally in a movie. This is used because the song is about a story of the boyfriend at when he says 'I do' at the weeding it is summing up the story. A symbolic element of this video is that the song is about him changing and one of the line is 'you change your mind, like a girl changes clothes', and throughout the video Katy Perry is changing her clothes which is symbolising him changing and that line. Within this video there is also a motion of looking which is part of Andrew Goodwin's theory.
